These are not planets, not asteroids — they are calculated points, each one the arithmetic result of three chart factors (most often the Ascendant plus two planets) projected onto the ecliptic. Where a lot falls — its sign, house, and aspects — is all that is read; it carries no orbit, no body, no radial pull of its own. And because most lots are sect-dependent, the formula itself shifts depending on whether the Sun stands above the horizon (diurnal chart) or below it (nocturnal chart): day and night formulas mirror each other, so the first question to settle is always whether the chart belongs to the light or to the dark half of the sky. Think of each lot as a lens that concentrates a single theme — fortune, spirit, eros, necessity — to a precise degree of the zodiac, sharpening what the planets alone leave diffuse.
