Centaurs

Small, icy, and crossing the orbits of the giant planets on paths no stable body should keep — the centaurs carry that instability in their very nature, just as their mythological namesakes stood at the threshold between the animal and the human, the known and the untamed. Named in the lineage of Chiron, the first discovered, each one marks a place in the chart where something half-buried asks to be crossed: a wound inherited from ancestry, a grief held too long in the body, a release that the slower outer planets alone could not quite reach.
