Ten Gods

The Ten Gods (十神, shí shén) are the relational grammar of BaZi. Each one is determined by comparing any stem in your chart to the Day Master — the pillar that stands for you — through two lenses at once: which of the five elemental relationships connects them (same element, DM generates, DM controls, controls DM, or generates DM), and whether the polarity is shared or opposed. That double filter produces ten distinct roles, grouped into five pairs: Companion (比劫), Output (食伤), Wealth (财), Officer/Power (官杀), and Resource/Seal (印). They are energies, not verdicts — each carries light and shadow depending on context, combination, and the chart as a whole. They also reach into the hidden stems inside each earthly branch, so the full relational landscape of a chart runs far deeper than its surface pillars.

Indirect Wealth (偏財, Pian Cai) is the BaZi Ten-God role of windfall, speculation, and open-handed generosity — wealth the Day Master controls at its own polarity.

Seven Killings (七杀, Qi Sha) is BaZi's most intense Officer energy — same-polarity pressure on the Day Master that forges raw power, decisiveness, and calculated risk.

Direct Officer

The Direct Officer in BaZi is the force that controls the Day Master with aligned polarity — the voice of legitimate authority, duty, and earned reputation in the natal chart.

Indirect Resource (Pian Yin)

Indirect Resource (偏印 Pian Yin) is the unconventional nurturer of the Day Master in BaZi — the Ten-God of intuition, esoteric learning, and hidden reserves of inner power.
